he Sultan Bath is shipped to you in a custom built wooden crate. The bathtub is wrapped in nylon and tightly secured in the wooden crate with styrofoam blocks. The parts consist of one large bronze bathtub and four separate claw feet that are also wrapped in nylon and firmly secured with styrofoam in the corners of the wooden crate. The top cover is equipped with hinges for the ease of opening in order to expose the bathtub for inspection and/or removal from the crate. The front of the crate is identified by the painted name "Sultan Bath". To remove the bathtub from the wooden crate, first open the top cover by removing all the wood screws from around the edges and opening it towards the back on the hinges. Secondly, remove the front and/or the side wall(s) of the crate, followed by removing the middle wooden brace in order to completely expose the bathtub. Once the top cover is opened, the front wall panel and middle wooden brace have been removed, the bathtub is ready for removal from the crate.
The Sultan Bath is one piece of solid bronze. The only set-up required for the Sultan Bath is attaching each clawfoot to the base of the tub.
The bathtub does not come with the claw feet attached in order to avoid damage to the mounts during the transportation.
The installation of the plumbing for the bathtub is the responsibility of the owner.
OTTOMAN BATH AND BYZANTINE BATH
The Ottoman Bath and the Byzantine Bath are the exact same design with the same clawfoot, thus the technique for attaching the claw feet to the bathtub is the same for each model.
The clawfoot of the Ottoman Bath and the Byzantine Bath comes complete for mounting. There is a steel plate pre-attached to the back of each clawfoot, which forms a "U" shaped slot (1.5 inches deep) for the insertion of the bottom straight edge of the bathtub.
STEP 1 - Place the bathtub on four wooden blocks at a height of 7.5 inches, which is 1 inch above the height of the clawfoot (6.5 inches). This will give you the space to properly place the clawfoot in the correct position.
STEP 2 - Position each clawfoot underneath the bathtub at the four corners. The recommended position of each clawfoot is on the ends of the tub where the corner curve ends. Make sure that the entire clawfoot is placed on a straight edge. Not having the clawfoot bolted to the tub allows the clawfoot to be moved towards the middle of the bathtub. The weight tolerance for the balance of the bathtub permits a maximum distance of 4 inches from the end of the curve to avoid instability of the bathtub.
STEP 3 - Line up each clawfoot underneath the bathtub with the bottom straight edge positioned directly over the middle of the clawfoot slot.
STEP 4 - Insert the bottom straight edge in between the bronze clawfoot and the steel plate attached to the clawfoot by carefully removing the wooden block from underneath allowing the bathtub to slowly drop down and rest flat on the clawfoot. Once attached, the clawfoot will overlap the bottom straight edge of the bathtub by 1.5 inches.
STEP 5 - Repeat the same process for the remaining three claw feet.
OPTION: The clawfoot can be fitted with a bolt and attached in the same way as the Roman Bath. Please request the type of clawfoot attachment before production of the bathtub.
ROMAN BATH
Each clawfoot of the Roman Bath comes with one large metric bolt resting in the bolt hole to be removed for the set-up process. The set-up of the Roman Bath involves attaching each clawfoot to the mounts at the bottom of the bathtub. This is done by matching the clawfoot to the corresponding mount and firmly screwing the bolt in place. Each mount is custom sculpted to perfectly fit the shape of it's corresponding clawfoot. Mismatching the mounts with the wrong clawfoot will cause the bathtub to not sit flat.
STEP 1 - Place the bathtub on four wooden blocks at a height of 6.5 inches, which is 2 inches above the height of the clawfoot (4.5 inches) This will provide the space to properly attach each clawfoot to its respective mount.
STEP 2 - Each clawfoot must be attached to a specific mount at the bottom of the bathtub. We have engraved the numbers one, two, three or four on the back of each clawfoot and the same corresponding number on the back surface of each clawfoot mount to indicate the specific placement of each clawfoot on the bathtub.
STEP 3 - Place the clawfoot on the corresponding mount by matching the number on the clawfoot mount with the number on the clawfoot.
STEP 4 - The clawfoot fits perfectly on the bottom of the mount by resting it flush against the "L" shape of the mount with the claws facing out.
STEP 5 - Attach the clawfoot to the mount by holding the clawfoot in place and sliding the large bolt through the hole of the mount into the bolt hole of the clawfoot.
STEP 6 - Firmly tighten the large bolt to the mount. Rubber washer is optional.
STEP 7 - Remove the wooden blocks from underneath the bathtub. Do not put all the weight of the bathtub on one side (onto two claw feet) when lifting the bathtub off the blocks. The bathtub must be lowered straight down onto all four of the claw feet.
NOTE: We recommend mounting the faucet and hardware on the wall or on a freestanding unit. Avoid mounting directly onto the bathtub.
ATTENTION
Please be extremely careful when handling the bathtub. Each bathtub is very heavy and may cause injury during the set-up.
Do not push or slide the bathtub when moving it to a different position. This may damage the clawfoot attachments. Always detach each clawfoot from the bathtub and repeat the set-up steps or the bathtub must be lifted straight up and lowered straight down.
Please handle the bathtub with care at all times to avoid scratching or denting the bronze finish. Take special care to protect the bronze surface during the set-up and installation process.
It is highly recommended that trade professionals perform the set-up and installation of the bathtub with the proper equipment.
